Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to protest about the way hens are treated in many parts of Europe.

Many farmers keep the hens in very small cages or batteries. These cages are so small that the hens can't flap their wings or clean their feathers.Usually there are about five hens in each cage and the farmers put five or six cages on top of each other. Those hens cannot live full life. They don't have enough fresh air and they cannot lay healthy eggs. In my opinion, it is violence against the living organism.

I think we should all try to buy free-range eggs, not eggs from battery hens.

Yours faithfully,

Darja Balina
